Leaving Good For Good

As I spend my last day at the Clubhouse, I would like to say that my work here although brief has renewed my spirit and enthusiasm for work in this field.  Since the day I began, the kindness and support that I have received has been overwhelming.  I want to take this time to thank members, staff, and the board of directors for giving me the opportunity to work here and learn from all of you.

As I leave, I have been giving a wonderful luncheon, a beautiful garland of flowers, and a heart shaped cake.  I am touched in ways that I can’t find the words to express.  I will always carry the kind words and great memories with me.

 Take Good Care.

Sixth Avenue Heading to Pennsylvania Avenue

Members of the Sixth Avenue Clubhouse are planning a trip to Washington, D.C., in September, and they’re putting on a play and a few fundraisers to help fund the trip.

“One of our primary goals going there is cultural enrichment,” said member Chris Dratz. “People with mental illness are often isolated in the community.”

The trip will be Sept. 13-18. The cost is about $700 per person. Seven Clubhouse members and four staff members will be going.  Interested community members can sponsor a Clubhouse member to go on the trip.

A member of the Clubhouse has written a play called “The Clubhouse Blues,” which members will perform in August. A date and time is being finalized, but a performance with a dinner will be put on to help raise money.

Other fundraisers are planned and details will be announced at a later date.
